The Sonata in Agar is a bold, 1960s-inspired frame from the Glenn Gould collection. Featuring deep beveled rims, precious metal arrowhead pins, and custom gold detailing, it blends timeless elegance with artistic edge. Handcrafted in Japan and limited to just 400 pieces, it comes in a premium box set with a reissued Glenn Gould vinyl, leather case, and certificate. A true collector’s piece for connoisseurs of craftsmanship and sound.
A tribute to the genius of Glenn Gould, the Sonata in Agar strikes a perfect chord between sophistication and soul. Inspired by the golden era of the 1960s, these limited-edition spectacles echo the depth, complexity, and quiet intensity of one of the most revered pianists of the 20th century. With their arched browline and deeply beveled lens rims, they channel a bold silhouette—timeless yet unafraid to stand apart. Every angle reflects the precision of a masterwork.
Handcrafted in Japan, the frame is made from 10mm cured cellulose acetate in a rich Havana tone. It features custom double-laminated temples with dark gold hardware, precious metal arrowhead front pins, and spur-shaped rivets. The exposed dark gold wirecore runs through the temples, adding texture and finesse. Paired with Tuscan CR39 2-base lenses treated with backside anti-reflective coating, the Sonata offers not just style, but comfort and clarity.
Only 400 pieces of the Sonata in Agar exist worldwide. Each frame carries a unique serial number, underscoring its rarity and collectible value.
This collector’s item arrives in a custom blue monograph box set with elegant gold foil-stamped details. Inside, you’ll find a leather envelope-style case, a dual-sided microfiber cleaning cloth featuring exclusive Glenn Gould album art, and a letterpress certificate of authenticity. Most notably, the set includes a reissue of Gould’s 1956 recording of Bach’s The Goldberg Variations—the very piece that catapulted him into legend. A spectacle, inside and out.
For those who see life like a sonata—layered, expressive, and timeless.
